Land Grants

My maternal great-great grandfather, James Elder (1781-1831),
began his land ownership in Livingston County.
Notes in my family files suggest James Elder owned about 1,400 acres.
The following Government records for James Elder support such an acreage.
Book/Page Date Acres Watercourse
10/356 1804 389 Livingston Creek
11/445 1805 400 None
23/532 1816 350 Dry Creek
27/184 1806 400 Clay Lick Creek
TOTAL 1,539

Unfortunately this land holding was not passed down to me !
In fact, I can find no record of his sale or other disposition.

NOTE: This is not the JAMES ELDER in my earlier post !
THAT JAMES was the son of William Elder (Brother to THIS JAMES).
(Not Patriot William Elder, father of THIS James !)
